Donna Sanford finds comfort in the beautiful flower gardens at Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado where she can honor her late husband Steve. Steve passed away at the Hospice Care Center after a courageous battle with cancer. His final days were filled with family and many friends. Sometimes as many as 40 people filled his room with love and laughter.
"The people at Hospice are angels. They are truly amazing and I can't say enough good about the care that my husband received," says Donna.
Proceeds from the West Star Aviation Air Show! Grand Junction, CO will be donated to Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado in Steve's memory. Aviation has been a part of Donna and Steve's life for more than 30 years. Together they served on the Board of Directors for Grand Junction Air Show Inc. Donna felt the committee's decision to donate the proceeds to Hospice was both a fitting tribute to Steve's passion for planes, and a wonderful way to honor the care he received at the Hospice Care Center.
"Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado is dedicated to profoundly changing the way our community experiences serious illness and grief, and donations make our work possible. We truly appreciate the Sanford family and Grand Junction Air Show Inc for helping to ensure compassionate care for anyone in need," said Jacquie Chappell Reid, Director of Major Gifts.
Steve's memory will live on in the work of Hospice when other families in our community receive care.
